Leeds United's unbeaten run in the league
Leeds have gone four Premier League matches without defeat: a 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest, a 1-1 draw at home to Brentford, a 1-1 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion, and a 4-1 home win over Newcastle United on 14 September. That run has come alongside two EFL Cup ties either side of it. Leeds beat Forest 2-0 in the cup, then shipped six in a 6-3 defeat at Chelsea on 9 September, a heavier scoreline than anything in their league form this month.
Crystal Palace's league form has stalled
Palace's last four Premier League games read very differently: a 2-0 defeat at Everton, a 1-4 home loss to Manchester City, a 3-2 win at Fulham, and a 3-2 home defeat to Ipswich Town on 12 September. Only the Fulham game has brought league points since the opening weekend. Goals have flowed elsewhere, though. Palace put three past Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup and four past Lech Poznań in the Europa League within the space of nine days, but neither of those results came against Premier League opposition.
Team news: who's missing at Elland Road
Crystal Palace will be without Axel Disasi, who is serving a three-match ban after his red card in the defeat to Ipswich Town. Chadi Riad is out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury suffered in the Everton game, and both Jean-Philippe Mateta and Dean Henderson are sidelined and not expected back before the international break. Leeds have their own absence at the back, with Joe Rodon out through a thigh injury.
Where the two runs meet
Palace's trip to Elland Road follows a home defeat, and their away form this season has been mixed: beaten at Everton, then winners at Fulham. Leeds, by contrast, have not lost in the league in either setting since August. With Disasi banned and Riad, Mateta and Henderson all missing, Pierre Sage has fewer options at the back than at any point so far this season.
Leeds United vs Crystal Palace prediction
Leeds United will beat Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday. Leeds arrive unbeaten in four league games and have scored in every one of them, while Palace have lost three of their last four and are without four first-team players through injury and suspension. Palace's cup form shows they can still score goals, but their leaky league defence and the absences at the back make it hard to see them containing a Leeds side playing with real confidence.
