Moldova have not won any of their last five internationals, losing three of them. Faroe Islands have not won either of their last two, but at least they have not lost one. That gap in recent fortune sets up Tuesday's UEFA Nations League fixture between the two sides.
Moldova play Faroe Islands in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, with kick-off at 17:00 BST. Full details are on the Moldova vs Faroe Islands match page.
Moldova lost 2-0 away to Slovakia on 26 September 2026, their most recent match before this one. Before that they drew 1-1 with Armenia on 9 June, drew 2-2 at home to Bulgaria on 5 June, lost 3-2 away to Cyprus on 30 March, and lost 0-2 at home to Lithuania on 26 March. Across those five matches Moldova have conceded in every single one, shipping at least one goal each time and two or more in four of the five.
Faroe Islands drew 1-1 with Kazakhstan on 26 September 2026, the same night Moldova lost to Slovakia. Their only other result on record is a 1-1 draw away to San Marino on 28 March. Two matches, two draws, one goal conceded in each. It is a thin sample, but it is a cleaner one than Moldova's.
Moldova's problem in recent matches has been defensive: nobody they have played has failed to score against them, and three different opponents have scored two or more. Faroe Islands have not looked prolific either, scoring once in each of their last two games, but they have shown they can get a goal on the board against opposition who let them play. On that basis, Moldova's leaky record looks the more decisive factor here.
