Team news

Milan head coach Ruben Amorim has confirmed Rafael Leão will not be involved against Venezia. The rest of the squad that started the 2-1 win at Torino is otherwise available to him.

Venezia go into the game without midfielder Matías Moreno, who is out with a muscular problem. Head coach Giovanni Stroppa named an otherwise full-strength squad for the defeat to Lecce and is expected to do the same here.

Recent form

Milan's Serie A campaign started with a 2-1 win away at Torino. Their pre-season form was mixed: a 4-2 win over Manchester United sat alongside a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea and a 1-1 draw with Inter, and their last Serie A match of the previous campaign was a 2-1 defeat at Cagliari.

Venezia's return to Serie A began badly, beaten 2-0 at home by Lecce. They did beat Modena 3-2 in the Coppa Italia the week before, but their build-up form was patchy: an 8-0 win over Vis Pesaro either side of a 4-3 defeat to Saint-Étienne and a 2-2 draw with Stade Brestois.

AC Milan vs Venezia prediction

AC Milan should beat Venezia at San Siro in this Serie A fixture. Milan already have a Serie A win on the board this season and, even without Rafael Leão, kept enough control at Torino to see the game out. Venezia have lost their opening two competitive matches back in the top flight and go into this one missing a regular midfielder in Matías Moreno.

Our prediction: AC Milan 2-0 Venezia
