See live & upcoming matchesBulgaria and Luxembourg meet in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday, with both sides looking to open their League C Group 4 campaign with something to build on. It is the first of two group games between them this window, and neither has had a settled run of results to carry in with confidence.
Bulgaria play Luxembourg on Saturday, 26 September 2026 at 17:00 BST, at Stadion Hristo Botev in Plovdiv, in the UEFA Nations League. Full details, including how to make your own call on the result, are on the match page.
Bulgaria's last five results are mixed. They drew 2-2 away to Moldova in June and lost 1-0 to Montenegro days earlier, both friendlies. Before that, in FIFA Series fixtures in March, they won 1-0 away to Indonesia and beat the Solomon Islands 10-2. The gap between those numbers says more about the standard of opposition than it does about Bulgaria's current level, and the two matches against European sides this year are the more useful guide: one draw, one defeat, no win.
Aleksandar Dimitrov, appointed as Bulgaria's head coach on a two-year contract after Ilian Iliev's departure, has a squad short on players from Europe's top five leagues. Only Leeds United's Ilia Gruev and Lukas Petkov, of newly promoted Bundesliga side Elversberg, currently play at that level, and Petkov is expected to start up front. Andrian Kraev is set to partner Gruev in midfield.
Luxembourg's recent form reads better. They won both Nations League games in March, beating Malta 3-0 at home and 2-0 away, then added a friendly win at Albania in June before losing 1-0 to Italy in Luxembourg. Three wins and a single defeat, that one against a side well above their level, is a solid return heading into this fixture.
