What TV channel is Liverpool vs Chelsea on?
Liverpool FC v Chelsea is live on Sky Sports and ITV in the United Kingdom on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, with kick-off at 20:00 GMT at Anfield, as confirmed by Liverpool FC. Both clubs came through the previous round at home: Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-1, Chelsea beat Leeds United 6-3.
How Liverpool FC and Chelsea arrive at Anfield
Liverpool's run
Andoni Iraola's side have been scoring heavily and giving plenty back. Across their last six they scored 16 and conceded 11, hit two or more in four of the six, and were involved in a game with three or more goals five times. The 4-3 win at home to Villarreal on 20 October and the 6-3 at LASK on 14 October are the shape of it.
The exception is the one that still stings: 0-3 at home to Manchester City on 11 October. That remains their only defeat in the six, and the only time they failed to score.
Away from Anfield they have been flawless, winning all three, including 2-1 at Brentford on 17 October. At home they have won two of three.
Chelsea's run
Xabi Alonso's Chelsea have the identical goal record over six games - 16 scored, 11 conceded - from a worse set of results. They conceded two or more in four of the six, which is one more than Liverpool managed, and they were beaten 0-3 at Brentford on 18 September and 1-2 at Arsenal on 6 September.
Their last two have been much better. A 5-1 win at home to Bournemouth on 10 October, then 2-0 at Everton on 17 October, their only clean sheet in the run. That away win is also their only one in three attempts on the road.
Where the two runs meet
Four of Liverpool's last six saw both sides score. So did four of Chelsea's. Neither defence has looked settled, and the one previous meeting in our records backs that up only partly: Liverpool FC 1-1 Chelsea at Anfield in the Premier League, 172 days before this tie. A tight game between two sides who have mostly played loose ones.
Team news for Liverpool FC vs Chelsea
Liverpool are without Jeremie Frimpong for around four weeks with a hamstring problem and Dominik Szoboszlai for one to three games with a thigh injury, both picked up at Brentford, while Hugo Ekitike is not expected back before the New Year, Victor Munoz is still recovering from a knee knock, Giovanni Leoni is due to rejoin training in the next international break and Conor Bradley is close to returning to first-team work, per Sky Sports reporter Vinny O'Connor. Chelsea captain Reece James has had minor knee surgery and Alonso would not say whether he returns before or after Christmas, telling reporters "it's not going to be short" (NBC Sports), with Emi Martinez recovering from surgery on a fractured jaw, Jamie Gittens (ankle) and Emmanuel Emegha (hamstring) both targeting November and Pep Chavarria's return unclear (The False 9); Malo Gusto missed the Everton trip through illness - "Malo was ill yesterday, and he wasn't feeling well to travel", said Alonso (Yahoo Sports) - and has since trained.
Liverpool FC vs Chelsea prediction
Our prediction is a 2-1 Liverpool FC win over Chelsea in the EFL Cup fourth round at Anfield on Wednesday, 28 October 2026. Liverpool have won five of their last six and Chelsea have won just one of three away from home. Chelsea have conceded two or more in four of their last six, which is the part Liverpool's attack should find, and with both sides scoring in four of six each, a clean sheet either way looks the least likely outcome.
Our prediction: Liverpool FC 2-1 Chelsea
