What is the team news for Arsenal and Chelsea?
Arsenal will be without William Saliba until at least October, and Cristhian Mosquera is a major doubt after he was substituted during the 1-0 win at Aston Villa. Declan Rice was also withdrawn at Villa Park and has been reported to be carrying a knock. Jurrien Timber remains sidelined following groin surgery, with his return pencilled in for later this month rather than this weekend.
Chelsea's Moises Caicedo is very unlikely to be involved after aggravating an existing injury during the 4-3 win over Brighton & Hove Albion, having gone off just 13 minutes into that match. Jordan Henderson has been working his way back from a wrist injury sustained at the World Cup, with 6 September mentioned as a possible date for his return.
How have Arsenal and Chelsea been playing?
Arsenal's last two Premier League results have come without conceding: a 1-0 win away at Aston Villa on 31 August and a 3-0 win at home to Coventry City on 21 August. They also beat Manchester City 3-0 in the Community Shield on 16 August.
Chelsea have won their two league matches but shipped goals doing it. They beat Brighton & Hove Albion 4-3 at home on 30 August, and won 3-2 away at Fulham on 24 August, the scoreline for that game recorded as Fulham 2-3 Chelsea. They also beat Luton Town 2-0 in the EFL Cup on 27 August.
There is no previous meeting between these two sides recorded in our match archive.
Arsenal vs Chelsea prediction
Arsenal will beat Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, with the hosts' defensive record proving the difference. Arsenal have not conceded in either league game so far this season, while Chelsea have let in five goals across their two wins and go into this one without Moises Caicedo shielding their back line. Chelsea have shown they can score against anyone, but Arsenal's clean sheets suggest they will do enough at both ends.
Our prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea
